About
Shikinaen is a royal garden built in the late 18th century and was also used to entertain diplomatic envoys from China. Centered around a pond, its strolling-garden design combines Okinawan scenery with influences from Chinese and Japanese garden traditions. It provides an important glimpse into the diplomacy and cultural exchanges of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
