About
Nakijin Castle Site is one of the major gusuku fortresses built on a hill in northern Okinawa before the establishment of the unified Ryukyuan Kingdom. Its impressive stone walls overlook the surrounding mountains and beautiful coastline. The site provides important insight into the history and culture of the Hokuzan region and is a remarkable example of the way Ryukyuan fortifications blend with the natural landscape.
