From Vilnius Airport (VNO), the city centre is very close: buses, trolleybuses and a rail link reach central Vilnius in about 15 minutes. Kaunas Airport (KUN) also serves the country, with buses into Kaunas. Buy tickets with an app or contactless card.

Public transport in Lithuanian cities is based on buses and trolleybuses. In Vilnius the network is extensive and reliable; Kaunas and Klaipėda have their own bus systems. Buy a Vilnietis card (Vilniečio kortelė), top it up, and tap it when boarding.

Vilnius uses the Vilnietis card (Vilniečio kortelė) for public transport. Buy it at kiosks or transport points, top it up online or in shops, then tap it on the reader when boarding. Time-based and single tickets are available; contactless bank cards also work on many services.

Ride-hailing with Bolt is the dominant and most convenient option in Lithuanian cities, with transparent app pricing. Traditional street taxis also operate; if you take one, use a reputable firm and check the meter or agree the fare first.

The national rail operator LTG Link runs trains between Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and other towns. Long-distance buses are the backbone of intercity travel, with operators such as Kautra, Lux Express and Ecolines covering routes across Lithuania and to neighbouring countries. Book ahead for the best fares.

Lithuania is a small country, so there are essentially no scheduled domestic flights: trains and buses cover distances between the main cities quickly and cheaply. Use the airports (Vilnius, Kaunas, Palanga) for international connections instead.

Get a Vilnietis card and top it up for city transport, and tap it when boarding. Book intercity buses and trains ahead for the best fares. Bolt is the easiest way to get a ride around town.
