Barbados uses 115V / 50Hz with Type A and Type B sockets (North American flat pins). Travellers from 220–240V countries need a Type A/B adapter, and a converter for devices that are not dual-voltage.

The main operators are FLOW (Cable & Wireless) and Digicel, both with good 4G/LTE across the island. Prepaid SIMs can be bought at the airport, operator stores and many shops. Bring your passport, as ID may be required for registration.

eSIM travel plans are increasingly available for Barbados: buy one online before arrival and install it in minutes, with no physical SIM or shop visit. This is handy for staying connected the moment you land.

Wi-Fi is common in hotels, restaurants, cafés and many public spots across Barbados. Speeds are generally good in tourist areas, though they can vary in more remote parts. Use a VPN on public networks for sensitive tasks like banking.

Barbados has an open internet with no significant restrictions. All standard apps and services — messaging, social media, maps and streaming — work normally.

Handy apps include maps and translation, WhatsApp for messaging and calls (widely used locally), and local taxi or ride booking apps where available. Credit cards and contactless payment are accepted at most hotels, restaurants and larger shops.

Barbados uses the North American Numbering Plan with country code +1 and area code 246. App-based calls (WhatsApp, FaceTime and similar) are common. Save numbers in full +1-246 format so they work from any network.
