Airport to City Access
Train, bus, taxi, and other options to the city center
From Tbilisi International Airport (TBS), the city centre is reached by bus #37, by train to the central station, or by taxi (use the Bolt app for a fair price). Kutaisi International Airport (KUT), a low-cost hub, is linked to the city and to Tbilisi and Batumi mainly by shuttle buses timed to flights.

Metro, bus, tram, and how to use them
Tbilisi has a two-line metro plus buses and shared minibuses called marshrutkas. The metro is fast and cheap, and buses cover the rest of the city. Marshrutkas run fixed routes but stop on request; they are handy but less predictable than buses.

Tbilisi uses the MetroMoney travel card for the metro, buses and cable cars; buy and top it up at metro stations and kiosks. Contactless bank cards are also accepted on many vehicles. One card can be shared by several people at the reader.

Car Rental & Driving
License requirements and traffic rules
Georgia drives on the right and rental cars are available with an International Driving Permit. A car is great for exploring mountain regions like Kazbegi and Svaneti, but drive with care: mountain roads are narrow and winding, driving styles can be assertive, and winter conditions bring snow and ice. In cities, taxis and apps are often easier than driving.

Intercity Travel
Long-distance buses, trains, and ferries
Georgian Railway links Tbilisi with Batumi, Kutaisi and Zugdidi, with comfortable modern trains on the busy Tbilisi–Batumi route. Marshrutkas (shared minibuses) and long-distance buses reach almost everywhere and are cheap, though timetables can be loose. Book popular trains ahead in summer, when the coast is busy.

Domestic Flights
Budget airlines and booking tips
Domestic flights in Georgia are limited, mainly linking Tbilisi with Batumi on the Black Sea coast and a few seasonal routes. Because the country is compact, most travellers use trains, marshrutkas or a rental car instead, which are cheaper and reach far more places. Flying mainly saves time for the coast in peak season.
