Airport to City Access
Train, bus, taxi, and other options to the city center
Most visitors arrive at Sangster International (MBJ) in Montego Bay, where hotel shuttles and authorised JUTA taxis run to the resort areas. From Norman Manley International (KIN) in Kingston, take a taxi into the city centre. Use only licensed airport taxis (red PP plates / JUTA) and avoid unlicensed drivers.

Metro, bus, tram, and how to use them
In Kingston, the state-run JUTC operates scheduled city buses. Elsewhere and between towns, shared route taxis and minibuses (coasters) are common and cheap for locals. For visitors, however, licensed taxis or tour shuttles are usually the more comfortable and reliable choice.

Jamaica drives on the LEFT (a British legacy). Renting is possible with an international driving permit. Rural roads can be narrow with potholes and tight bends, and mountain routes are demanding, so drive carefully and avoid driving at night. In resort areas, taxis and tours often make a car unnecessary.

Intercity Travel
Long-distance buses, trains, and ferries
For getting between towns, Knutsford Express is a comfortable scheduled coach service linking places like Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Kingston, and is popular with visitors. Licensed taxis and tour shuttles are the other main options. Travel is by road, as there is no passenger rail network for tourists.
