Visa Requirements
Types of visas required and their conditions
Visa-free: Many nationalities (incl. EU, US, UK, Japan, Australia) can enter visa-free.
Max stay: Up to 60 days (extended to 60 from 30 days in 2024)
⚠ Visa-free extendable by 30 days at local immigration. Overstaying incurs fines and possible bans.
Passport Conditions
Required validity period and blank pages
Validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry.
Blank pages: At least 2 blank pages required for entry stamps.
Required Documents & Pre-registration
Arrival cards, health declarations, and other preparations
Online form: TM.6 departure card abolished in 2024 for air arrivals
Documents needed: Valid passport, return ticket, proof of accommodation, proof of funds (THB 20,000).
⚠ TM.6 may still be required at some land borders.
Cash Import Limits
Declaration-free limits and procedures for excess amounts
Declaration threshold: Must declare USD 20,000 or equivalent. THB: max THB 50,000 out of country.

Duty-Free Allowances & Restricted Items
Limits on tobacco, alcohol, food, and other goods
Tobacco: 200 cigarettes or 250g tobacco
Alcohol: 1 liter
Perfume: No specific limit
Other goods: THB 20,000 other goods
⚠ E-cigarettes/vapes are ILLEGAL in Thailand. Bringing them in may result in arrest.
Prohibited Items
Items that are strictly forbidden from import
Prohibited items: Illegal drugs, weapons, explosives, counterfeit goods, obscene materials, endangered species products (CITES).
Country-specific: E-cigarettes and vapes (ILLEGAL — possession can result in imprisonment or fines up to THB 30,000). Buddha images for commercial use.
⚠ Vapes/e-cigarettes strictly prohibited. Lese-majeste law prohibits material disrespectful to the monarchy.
Medication Import Rules
Rules for bringing prescription and over-the-counter drugs
General rule: Carry prescription medications in original packaging with a doctor's letter in English stating the medication name, dosage, and medical necessity.
Recommended: Keep medications in carry-on luggage. Carry a copy of prescriptions. Bring only the amount needed for your trip.
Vaccinations & Health Requirements
Required and recommended vaccines for entry
Required: Yellow Fever certificate required if arriving from or transiting through a yellow fever endemic area.
Recommended: Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Tetanus. Malaria prophylaxis for tropical/rural areas.
⚠ Check WHO yellow fever endemic country list. Transit of 12+ hours may trigger requirement.
Immigration Process

Process: Arrival → Immigration (passport control) → Baggage claim → Customs (green/red channel) → Exit.
Typical wait: Varies. Allow at least 30-60 minutes during peak hours.
