Visa Requirements
Types of visas required and their conditions
eVisa: eVisa available for all nationalities (since 2023). Many also qualify for visa-free entry.
Max stay: Up to 45 days visa-free (select nationalities) or 90 days (eVisa)
How to apply: eVisa: apply at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn (USD 25). Processing 3 days.
⚠ Japan, South Korea, EU, UK citizens get 45 days visa-free. eVisa allows multiple entries.
Passport Conditions
Required validity period and blank pages
Validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry.
Blank pages: At least 2 blank pages required for entry stamps.
Required Documents & Pre-registration
Arrival cards, health declarations, and other preparations
Arrival card: Paper form (being phased out for eVisa holders)
Documents needed: Valid passport, eVisa printout or visa sticker, return ticket.
⚠ eVisa holders may skip paper form at some airports.
Cash Import Limits

Declaration threshold: Must declare USD 10,000 or equivalent in any currency.
How to declare: Complete customs declaration form or digital form at arrival.
⚠ Applies to cash, traveler's checks, and monetary instruments. Penalties for non-declaration can be severe.

Tobacco: 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250g tobacco

⚠ Check specific allowances before travel. Exceeding limits may result in confiscation or duty payment.
Prohibited Items
Items that are strictly forbidden from import
Prohibited items: Illegal drugs, weapons, explosives, counterfeit goods, obscene materials, endangered species products (CITES).
Country-specific: Materials against the state, certain publications, drone equipment without permit.
⚠ DEATH PENALTY possible for large-scale drug trafficking.
Medication Import Rules
Rules for bringing prescription and over-the-counter drugs
General rule: Carry prescription medications in original packaging with a doctor's letter in English stating the medication name, dosage, and medical necessity.
Recommended: Keep medications in carry-on luggage. Carry a copy of prescriptions. Bring only the amount needed for your trip.
Vaccinations & Health Requirements
Required and recommended vaccines for entry
Required: Yellow Fever certificate required if arriving from or transiting through a yellow fever endemic area.
Recommended: Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Tetanus. Malaria prophylaxis for tropical/rural areas.
⚠ Check WHO yellow fever endemic country list. Transit of 12+ hours may trigger requirement.
Immigration Process
