What is The Okura Prestige Bangkok? A Luxury Hotel in Bangkok Where You Can Experience Japanese Hospitality
If you are looking for a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, I would like to recommend The Okura Prestige Bangkok.
This is a luxury hotel that combines the service unique to the Okura Japanese hotel brand with a convenient location in central Bangkok. It is suitable for those who want to spend a relaxing time while enjoying Japanese-style hospitality even during overseas travel.
Based on my actual stay experience, I will introduce the points you should know before booking, including access, guest rooms, breakfast, pool, and Japanese language support.
What left a particularly deep impression was the infinity pool, where you can relax right in the center of the city. For me, as someone who prioritizes the pool when choosing a hotel, this was once again one of the points I was looking forward to.
Basic Information of The Okura Prestige Bangkok
📍 The Okura Prestige Bangkok
Hotel Name: The Okura Prestige Bangkok
Location: Park Ventures Ecoplex, 57 Wireless Road, Bangkok, Thailand
Nearest Station: BTS Phloen Chit Station
Estimated Room Rates: From approx. 7,000 THB per night
Hotel Features: Japanese-style hospitality, luxurious rooms, Japanese cuisine, infinity pool
Note: Rates vary depending on the stay date, room type, booking plan, etc. The amount of approximately 7,000 THB is a reference indicator I used when selecting a hotel this time, so please check the latest rates upon booking.
Outstanding Location with Easy Access from BTS Phloen Chit Station
The biggest attraction of The Okura Prestige Bangkok is undoubtedly its superb location.
The nearest station is BTS Phloen Chit Station. The hotel is located in Park Ventures Ecoplex, a commercial complex directly connected to the station, making access from the station extremely convenient.
In my feeling, the distance is such that the hotel comes into view as soon as you exit the ticket gates. As for actual walking time, I think it is good to estimate a few minutes. In hot Bangkok, being able to move to the hotel without walking long distances from the station is a huge advantage.
In the surrounding area, there is Wireless Road, where embassies of various countries are gathered, and the shopping mall Central Embassy is also nearby. It is a convenient area for those who want to enjoy shopping and dining.
In addition, there is a 7-Eleven on the first floor of the hotel, which is also handy when you want to buy drinks or small daily supplies.
Conrad Bangkok, which I introduced previously, is also located around the same Wireless Road, but Conrad is situated further down the street. On the other hand, The Okura Prestige Bangkok is located right in front of Phloen Chit Station, close to Sukhumvit Road.
While both are convenient hotels in central Bangkok, I felt this location was particularly convenient for those who travel frequently using the BTS or want to enjoy shopping around Central Embassy.
Hospitality Unique to a Japanese Hotel Brand
The Okura Prestige Bangkok is a hotel bearing the name of Okura, a Japanese hotel brand.
Inside the building, staff wearing kimonos can be seen, creating an authentic Japanese atmosphere.
While overseas luxury hotels each have their own different charms, at this hotel you can enjoy a stay that is mindful of detailed Japanese-style service and hospitality culture.
Of course, the environment is not completely identical to a hotel in Japan. Nevertheless, being able to feel the presence of a Japanese hotel brand while abroad is a charm unique to Okura.
For those who are anxious about overseas hotels on their first trip to Bangkok, or who prioritize refined service during international travel, it is a hotel worth putting on your shortlist.
Clean Rooms Where You Can Also Enjoy Japanese TV Programs
What I felt during this stay was the cleanliness of the guest room. The interior was neatly arranged, creating a space where you can spend time calmly.
At overseas hotels, you might sometimes worry whether the facilities and room atmosphere suit you, but here I had the impression that I could stay comfortably.
In addition, Japanese programs could be watched on the room TV. When abroad, you sometimes miss the TV shows you usually watch in Japan. Being able to enjoy Japanese-language programs is a pleasant point for Japanese travelers.
Pay Attention to the Choice Between Smoking and Non-Smoking Rooms
Something to be careful about when booking is the smoking/non-smoking condition of the room.
In the smoking room I used this time, the smell of paper cigarettes was quite noticeable. For those who dislike the smell of tobacco or are worried about odors transferring to clothes or luggage, I recommend specifying a non-smoking room.
However, room conditions and individual sensitivity to smells vary. It will give you peace of mind if you request a non-smoking room upon booking and, if possible, confirm that non-smoking conditions are clearly stated in your reservation details.
Bathroom Impressions May Vary Depending on Room Type
Another thing that caught my attention was the sense of openness in the bathroom.
In the room I stayed in, there was no window in the bathroom, giving a slight feeling of enclosure. For those who want to take a bath while looking at the view, or who place importance on an open bathroom, it is good to check photos and facility information for your intended room type in advance.
While I was satisfied with the cleanliness and comfort of the room as a whole, preferences regarding the bathroom atmosphere might differ.
Breakfast Feature: Familiar Japanese Cuisine at Yamazato
At The Okura Prestige Bangkok, you can enjoy a Japanese-style breakfast at the Japanese restaurant "Yamazato".
During overseas travel, breakfasts centered around bread, egg dishes, and sausages often continue, but here the appeal is being able to enjoy meals that are familiar to Japanese people.
What impressed me this time was that classic Japanese foods like umeboshi (pickled plum) and natto (fermented soybeans) were prepared.
Since opportunities to easily eat Japanese ingredients abroad can be limited, being able to enjoy such meals from the morning is a delight.
Of course, umeboshi and natto are foods where preferences vary, but for those who like Japanese breakfasts, it will be a highly satisfying option.
It is especially recommended when you miss Japanese food or want to focus on Japanese meals for breakfast while abroad.
Please note that non-Japanese meals are also provided at the hotel. Breakfast details, available restaurants, and inclusion in rates vary by booking plan, so be sure to check when reserving.
An Infinity Pool Where You Can Forget the City's Bustle
One of the reasons I chose this hotel this time was the pool.
I often prioritize the pool when choosing hotels, and I value whether there is a space where I can spend time comfortably even in a big city like Bangkok.
The pool at The Okura Prestige Bangkok is an infinity pool located on the 25th floor. Looking out over the Bangkok scenery lined with skyscrapers, it is a space where you can relax right in the middle of the city.
📍 The Okura Prestige Bangkok Swimming Pool
To be honest, the pool is not extremely large. However, its charm lies in being able to soak in water slightly away from the bustle of the city and spend a leisurely time taking in the view.
During Bangkok sightseeing, you may walk much more than expected through shopping, dining, and temple visits. Returning to the hotel at the end of such a day and taking a break poolside feels like a luxurious time.
Poolside Impression: Suitable for Adults Wanting a Quiet Stay
From my actual impression of looking at the poolside, available seating was around 10 seats. This is an estimate based on visual observation and not an exact seat count.
Also, when I used it, I did not see very many guests with children. Therefore, rather than a large resort pool for families, it gave the impression of a space for adults to calmly enjoy the view and rest.
However, this is strictly my personal impression from this visit. The atmosphere may change depending on the time of day or the guest situation.
For those who select a hotel with an emphasis on the pool, it is a point to consider not only size but also the scenery and comfort.
If you want to stay in a convenient hotel in central Bangkok while relaxing at a pool, I think it is an attractive option.
Peace of Mind with Japanese-Speaking Staff
For Japanese travelers, whether Japanese is understood at an overseas hotel is a point of interest.
At The Okura Prestige Bangkok, there are cases where you can consult with staff who can respond in Japanese. For those anxious about communicating in English, this will be one reassuring factor.
However, during this stay, Japanese-speaking staff were not always present at the front desk.
In my case, when I asked for Japanese assistance at the front desk, they called a staff member from the Japanese restaurant, and Japanese staff handled my request.
In other words, while there is a possibility of receiving support in Japanese within the hotel, it is better not to assume that Japanese-speaking staff are stationed at the front desk at all times.
If you have important consultations or detailed requests, it is safe to inquire with the hotel in advance.
Room Rates at The Okura Prestige Bangkok
The price guideline I used as reference when choosing accommodations this time is from around 7,000 THB per night.
However, actual room rates fluctuate according to dates, room types, booking sites, presence of breakfast, campaigns, etc. During peak seasons or major events, prices may become even higher.
Also, checking whether taxes and service charges are included in the displayed price is a point you should confirm before booking.
Bangkok has hotels in various price ranges, but this property lets you enjoy a highly convenient location, Japanese-style hospitality, Japanese food, and a high-floor infinity pool.
Rather than simply comparing room rates alone, thinking about how you want to spend your time at the hotel will lead to a highly satisfying stay.
Recommended For
Based on the characteristics experienced during my stay, this hotel is suitable for the following people:
・Those who prioritize service unique to a Japanese hotel brand
・Those who want to explore Bangkok based around BTS Phloen Chit Station
・Those who want to enjoy shopping at Central Embassy and nearby places
・Those who want to enjoy a Japanese breakfast even abroad
・Those who value room cleanliness and the possibility of consulting in Japanese
・Those who want to spend time slowly at an infinity pool in the center of the city
On the other hand, points to be careful about when booking are the potential concern about odors in smoking rooms, the possibility that bathroom openness differs by room type, and the fact that the pool size is not as large as a huge resort.
If you want to play in the pool all day with small children or are looking for a resort hotel with vast grounds, you may want to compare with other hotels as well.
Summary | A Luxury Bangkok Hotel Balancing Convenience and Japanese Hospitality
The Okura Prestige Bangkok is a hotel where you can enjoy a convenient location close to BTS Phloen Chit Station and hospitality unique to a Japanese hotel brand.
The rooms are clean, and points such as being able to watch Japanese TV programs and a Japanese-style breakfast including umeboshi and natto were pleasant highlights for Japanese travelers.
What left a special impression was the infinity pool where you can spend time calmly despite being in the city center. Although it does not have the size of a large resort, it is an attractive facility for those who want to relax at the hotel between Bangkok sightseeing.
While there are points to check before booking, such as smoking room odors and bathroom atmosphere, it is a hotel worth considering for those who value location, service, meals, and the pool.
